CINCO DE MAYO
Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday that commemorates the Mexican victory over the French army in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. This day is a symbol of Mexican patriotism and unity and is celebrated with folkloric dancing, mariachi music, and other festivities.
Since 2002, Hispanic Connections, Inc. has hosted an annual Cinco de Mayo Festival to connect the cultural gap between Hispanics and non-Hispanics in the greater Columbia area. This festival creates an opportunity for people of different backgrounds to better understand each other and to recognize the individuals and organizations that work for the betterment of the community.
